Hana Matsuri in Fukuoka: UAFukuoka at Sairinji Temple Market

On April 12, 2026, the Hana Matsuri (はなまつり) spring festival took place at Sairinji Temple in Fukuoka. It is a celebration of Buddha’s birthday combined with the Ottera Marche 14 temple market.

The event ran from 10:00 to 16:30 and attracted many visitors, with a warm and relaxed spring atmosphere throughout the day.

Members of UAFukuoka presented handmade items, including Petrykivka painting, ceramics, and other Ukrainian crafts, which drew interest from visitors.

On the same day, Easter was celebrated, and we shared traditional Ukrainian paska (Easter bread) and homemade sweets with guests.

Beets from a local farmer in Karatsu were also available for purchase.

Event program:

  • live music performances
  • mini concerts and performances
  • dance shows (including belly dance to a Ukrainian song)
  • student and music group performances
  • traditional Japanese performances (chindon)
  • workshops and interactive activities

Food, drinks, and craft stalls were set up around the temple grounds.

The event was also attended by members of the Ukrainian community, who supported UAFukuoka’s participation.

Participating in Hana Matsuri provided an opportunity to engage with local culture and share Ukrainian traditions in Fukuoka.
