On September 6, 2022, at the invitation of the Fukuoka International University of Health and Welfare, an online lecture about Ukraine was held. The presentation was prepared and conducted by representatives of the Association of Ukrainians of Fukuoka Prefecture “UAFukuoka.”
The university is engaged in training nursing staff, and the lecture, which lasted more than an hour, was attended by 100 students undergoing nursing training. According to the university’s request, the lecture’s content included general information about Ukraine, interesting facts, culinary traditions, and the history of Ukraine. A significant part of the presentation also contained information about the current military aggression of russia against Ukraine and the work of doctors at the frontline. The lecture concluded with the history of #StandwithUkraine Fukuoka movement and the establishment of the Association of Ukrainians in Fukuoka Prefecture.
Following the lecture, students described their impressions of what they heard. We were interested to know what facts about Ukraine attracted the most attention from the students. Despite everyone knowing about the war in Ukraine, after the lecture, they realized that this knowledge was superficial and that it is difficult to see the complete picture from the media. We were delighted that many students were interested in how to help Ukraine.
Out of almost a hundred comments, here are a few that convey the students’ impressions of what they heard.
